They lost. Classic.

vs New York

1 - 4

It is truly a special talent to outshoot an opponent twenty-nine to twenty and still manage to lose by three goals at home. Sergei Bobrovsky had a rough time stopping much of anything with an eighty-four percent save percentage while the offense decided to make Ilya Sorokin look like a brick wall. Anthony Duclair opened the scoring early and things just spiraled from there. Darren Raddysh and Easton Cowan took consecutive penalties in the first period just to make sure the penalty kill stayed busy. Cowan at least redeemed himself slightly by helping set up the only goal of the game for the home team.

Colton Sissons provided the lone highlight with a third period tip-in that briefly made everyone forget the team was losing. That hope lasted about as long as a lead in a game seven. The power play went zero for three despite plenty of opportunities, including a gift when Matthew Schaefer flipped the puck over the glass. Auston Matthews finished with a single shot and a dismal twenty-seven percent in the faceoff circle while William Nylander ended the game as a minus three. Simon Holmstrom put everyone out of their misery with two goals in the final frame to seal the four to one loss. It was a classic performance that reminds us all why being a fan of this team is a full-time job in emotional management.
