They won this one.

@ Colorado

6 - 3

Only the Maple Leafs could find a way to get outshot 12 to 1 in a single period and somehow come out of it with a lead. Bobrovsky was essentially a one man riot squad making 30 saves while the rest of the team apparently decided to take a scenic tour of the Rocky Mountains. Nick Blankenburg opened the scoring which was a nice surprise for anyone who actually knew he was on the roster. Naturally we let Nathan MacKinnon score twice because leaving the best player in the world wide open is a defensive strategy we really seem to enjoy.

William Nylander put up five points and looked like he was playing a video game on easy mode while Auston Matthews chipped in with four points of his own. It was a chaotic mess of special teams where Brandon Duhaime decided to collect penalties like they were trading cards by picking up a roughing and tripping minor at the exact same time. We managed to go 2 for 5 on the power play which is a statistical anomaly that will surely regress to the mean when it actually matters later in the year.

Easton Cowan chipped in with a goal and even though we won 6 to 3 after Matthews salted it away with an empty netter there is absolutely no reason to feel good about this. We were outshot 33 to 22 and spent most of the game hanging on for dear life. Enjoy the win if you must but remember that this team exists purely to create a false sense of security before ripping our hearts out in the spring.
