They lost. Classic.

@ Ottawa

2 - 5

Ottawa essentially treated Joseph Woll like a target at a carnival shooting gallery. Getting outshot 44 to 14 is a special kind of achievement that only this team could pull off against the Senators. Max Domi tried to set a tone with a roughing minor against Shane Pinto in the opening period but the only thing that actually happened was the defense deciding to stop playing. Tim Stützle opened the scoring on the power play after Matias Maccelli went to the box and it only got uglier from there. Watching Claude Giroux and Warren Foegele put the game out of reach in the second period while we mustered a measly four shots was the hockey equivalent of watching paint dry on a wall that is currently on fire.

There was a tiny spark of life when John Tavares and Easton Cowan decided to actually put the puck in the net to make it a one goal game. Cowan finished with two points and was one of the few players who looked like he realized a game was occurring. Of course the universe could not let us have nice things. Michael Amadio and Ridly Greig quickly reminded everyone why we are not allowed to have hope by extending the lead while the Leafs managed just two shots in the entire third period. Oliver Ekman-Larsson spent enough time in the penalty box to qualify for a residency permit and the power play went 0 for 4. Joseph Woll made 39 saves and still lost by three because the rest of the roster decided that offense was optional.
