Another classic masterpiece of defensive indifference. Getting doubled up in shots 41 to 20 is exactly the kind of statistical dominance expected from a team that treats the regular season like a mandatory corporate retreat. Michael Carcone opened the floodgates early, and by the time Dylan Guenther decided to turn the second period into his personal highlight reel with two goals in just over a minute, the plan was clear: provide Utah’s fans with the kind of hospitality usually reserved for visiting royalty.
JJ Peterka added a fourth because, at that point, why stop at three? Calle Jarnkrok eventually spoiled the shutout in the third period, providing just enough false hope to keep the heart rate up before Jack McBain and Daniil But reminded everyone that defense is more of a suggestion than a requirement for this roster. It takes a special kind of talent to make a road trip look like a leisurely skate through a cactus patch, but that is the enduring magic of being a fan of this franchise. Plan the parade, or at least a very expensive therapy session.
