@ Philadelphia

2 - 1(OT)

The Leafs wandered into Philadelphia and played a game that had all the offensive dynamism of a stalled subway train. After Travis Konecny scored for the Flyers less than a minute into the second period, it felt like the usual scheduled programming where Toronto dominates the shot clock's boredom levels while trailing by one. Both teams managed a measly 23 shots, proving that if you try hard enough, you can make professional hockey look like an optional morning skate where everyone forgot to drink their coffee.

Miraculously, Scott Laughton popped up in the third period to tie the game, giving the fanbase just enough hope to ensure the inevitable overtime would be maximally stressful. It took nearly three minutes of three-on-three anxiety before Easton Cowan buried the winner, securing a 2-1 victory and saving everyone from another round of existential dread for at least a few hours. It’s a road win, sure, but let’s all take a deep breath and remember that a narrow overtime victory against the Flyers is basically the hockey equivalent of finding a five-dollar bill in a pair of pants that are currently on fire. Don't start mapping out the parade route down Bay Street quite yet.
