They lost. Classic.

@ Washington

2 - 4

Another classic bait-and-switch from our beloved boys in blue. Morgan Rielly found the back of the net early, and when Matthew Knies doubled the lead in the second period, I briefly allowed myself the reckless luxury of hope. For a fleeting moment, the 2-0 lead felt solid, like a sensible investment or a well-timed subway train. But being a Leafs fan is all about understanding that a two-goal cushion is merely a setup for a more elaborate punchline.

Naturally, the script flipped. Connor McMichael started the comeback, and the third period became a masterclass in watching a lead evaporate like a paycheck in downtown Toronto. Anthony Beauvillier and Jakob Chychrun did the heavy lifting before Tom Wilson sealed the deal with an empty-netter that felt like a personal insult. Getting outshot 34-22 is exactly the kind of "prevent defense" that prevents us from ever having nice things. We gave the game away on a silver platter, and I’ll inevitably be back for more punishment next time because apparently, I never learn.
